Foam Lite Concrete is a dry mixture packaged in sacks or bulk bags that when mixed with water makes an extremely lightweight concrete.  Foam Lite Concrete uses expanded polystyrene (eps) as aggregate in place of sand and stone.  Concrete using eps aggregate is called epscrete or eps concrete. Foam Lite and eps concrete are now in use throughout the world.

Foam Lite Concretes and eps concretes are classed as super lightweight concretes, since the upper density range of these concretes is usually less than 60 lb. per cubic foot (pfc). Lightweight concretes, as defined by ASTM, have density ranges beginning at 60 pfc to as high as 100 pfc.

Today, manufacturers, contractors, builders, artisans, and individuals use Foam Lite Concrete premix or eps concrete for buildings, homes, walls, water features, architectural elements, statuary, theme structures, green build applications and as insulating infill for standard concrete block. It has been used as road bedding, in soil or geo-stabilization projects and as sub-grading for railroad trackage.

Expanded polystyrene or styrofoam is not degradable and its use as an aggregate for concrete results in an extremely lightweight highly insulating building product which is vermin proof and sound deadening.

Foam Lite Concretes are easily shaped or formed by hand or with standard sculpturing and construction tools.

Depending upon application, Foam Lite Concrete will weigh from 18 to 40 lb. per cubic foot when cured as opposed to standard concrete, which weighs 150 lb. per cubic foot. The yield per sack is usually 1.20 cubic feet of cured concrete. Bulk bags yield approximately 1 cubic yard of cured concrete.

The compressive strengths of Foam Lite Concrete's are consistent with the densities of the various mixes. The use of load bearing elements in the structural walls of buildings and homes is generally required when using all eps concretes.
